A brief history of
Kettering Perspective Trust

In the early 1990s Christ the King Church (CtK) began to work on a regular basis in Henry Gotch Secondary School, (since known as Ise Community Science College and now as Kettering Science Academy (KSA). At first this took the form of RE and PSHE lessons delivered by a voluntary schools worker. These lessons were firmly curriculum based and centred on the principles of the Christian faith.

As the relationship developed the school invited Christ the King Church to participate in the running of the school through representation on its governor's body. Throughout this time many members of CtK were part of the staff team in the school.

The relationship that developed in these early years still underpins the work of CtK in the school today.

In 2000 a new youth minister arrived at CtK and the work at the school began to increase through the invitation of the school. By 2003 CtK were running a regular breakfast club, revision residential, and other short term issue based courses; being recognised as resources that the school could call upon in appropriate situations.

In 2004 ICC and CtK mutually realized the importance of their partnership and it was agreed that a joint venture be pursued. Changes to CtK's youth staff also meant that as from July 2005 the church would need to review its priorities across the spectrum of its youth work and so it was agreed by ICC and CtK that the charity 'Kettering Perspective Trust' would be created in order to facilitate and administer the appointment of a new full time youth worker.

Since then the Trust has grown and developed; there are 6 people who regularly work for Perspective. In addition to the KSA/CtK youth worker are a team manager, a counsellor and a trainee youth worker.
